With so many types of mediation it can be overwhelming for the beginner to know where to start. Is one technique better than another or are they all the same? You betcha I’ve tried nearly all forms, from Kriya Yoga to Zen Meditation. About the only conclusion I’ve come to is the less complicated the better!
I try to practice some meditation everyday, although some days get a little busy and I must admit I don’t always find the time. This is another reason I prefer simple meditation techniques. If I have to spend 30 minutes to an hour just preparing for the meditation I find I just loose interest and would rather find something else to occupy my time.
I’ve always tended to lean towards a Zen style of meditation. Perhaps I should say a simplified version of a Zen mediation where i simply sit in a half lotus position and concentrate on my breath or a sound in the room for 20 minutes or so. I find this the simplest and most relaxing form of mediation.
